Non supporting, no rebates as promised

Strengths: has many hardware configuration options

Weakness: no temperature monitoring, clocking is inoperable beyond default

It's a great idea on the drawing board, but no good in operation. It wont boot beyond 1300mhz, trying to set the clock for my 1800mhz cpu and no boot at all. Have to reset bios jumper and run it in default mode to work at all. Running a chaitech video card and even with old games like Homeworld or Age of Empires it slows down and/or crashes on a regular basis. The tech support does not exist in...

Chaintech 7NJL6 Motherboard

Strengths: Many features including 5.1 audio, SATA, RAID, full ACPI, etc.

Weakness: As seen with most other MOBO's, the manual is weak and not at the same revision as the MOBO. Tech support website is weak, however email response is fast and good.

Apparently much misinformation about this board. It alarmed me at first when I found about 26 IRQ's via the ACPI. And it is untrue that a clean install is necessary to get it to work. Copied 98 HDD w/ SE intall on it. Booted to safe and removed old devices. Ran SE install and then needed updates. Using much larger drive & learned of MS problems for that size drive. Sound may not be what I...

Chaintech 7NJL6 Motherboard

Strengths: Easy to setup, full feature set, low cost

Weakness: box did not include ATX case rear cover plate, Driver CD was a bit out of date, BIOS lacks temp and voltage monitoring controls

Can't beat this Nforce 2 Ultra 400 board for the price I got it for at Tigerdirect ($30 AR). It has decent built in sound, RAID, SATA, etc. the 8 USB 2.0 ports are nice too. Only thing missing is Firewire. Install went without a hitch using a AMD Athlon XP2200+ CPU and WinXP Pro SP2. I can definitely recommend this board. It even features overclocking features such as 1Mhz increment FSB...

Chaintech 7NJL6 Motherboard

Strengths: Cost, ease of installation, on-board SATA Raid controller, nVidia nForce2 Ultra 400 Chipset

Weakness: No rear panel I/O shield was included for the case

I purchased three of these boards and they were all simple to install and run great with a Chaintech GeForce FX5200 video card, 512 PC3200 ram and an AMD 2800 processor. The on-board 5.1 sound is more than adequate for everday use. I would not hesitate to purchase another one of these boards.

Chaintech 7NJL6 Motherboard

Strengths: Nforce2 chipset, heat sink on north and south. nice features

Weakness: no manual setting for the multiplier board does not recognise an athlon 2500+mobile. will only run it at 1200, not the 1800 mhz it hould run at.

All reviews and the manufacturer website say this board supports overclocking, and it may, but not with a mobile 2500+(which happens to be the best value cpu ever) the $56 i spent on this board was a waste. I will replace it with an ASUS, something with genuine overclocking features.

Discount board not worth the trouble

Strengths: Inexpensive

Weakness: No temperature gauge, very limited tech support, manual outdated, old drivers included (drivers issued in 2001!).

I cannot recommend this board at all. 1. I never got the board to interface correctly with my floppy drive, thus unable to update BIOS (which is terribly outdated). Tried multiple verified functioning floppy drives. Tech email support not helpfull. 2. Constant boot up problems, especially after being turned off overnight. By default reads processor as 1300Mhz, have to set to "Optimal Defaults" to...

Good overall budget motherboard

Strengths: Good budget motherboard. Great Nvidia Chipset.

Weakness: No I/O shield included. No firewire. No voltage adjustments for cpu or memory. Connections are tightly spaced.

Good budget motherboard. Great Nvidia Chipset. Dual channel memory support. SATA support. Supports all Socket A CPUs (Xp's, Durons, Semprons). Comes with SATA cable but no I/O shield. Standard I/O shield required. FSB overclocking but no voltage adjustments. Connections are closely spaced. No firewire but expected on a budget motherboard.

Good mobo

Strengths: Easy to install

Weakness: Tech support can be difficult to reach but good when you talk with them. Skip e-mailing them....takes too long.

So far, very good. First time I've built a system so had problems....so I'll chalk it up to user error. Re-ordered the mobo, and everything went smoothly.

CHAINTECH 7NJL6

Strengths: fast, rugged

Weakness: no back plate

My asus mb died and I wanted a replacement. I put an Athlon 1600 and 512 pc2700 memory stick on the board. I wanted to use just an sata drive and boot from it, but my xp was an upgrade (don't buy upgrades) and win98 would not have anything to do with the sata. I added a maxtor ide drive and formated with max3. The sata was an added storage. Everything worked when i flipped the switch the first...

Chaintech 7NJL6 with audio/video playback problem

Strengths: SATA on board; overclockable above 400MHZ FSB; low price after rebate

Weakness: No temp sensors and fan control; choppy audio/video playback from DVD drive; spdif bracket not included for connection to external receiver.

In general the Chaintech 7NJL6 performs well with the nvidia nforce2 Ultra 400 chipset. But there is something wrong with the board which caused some choppiness in the audio/video playback from a DVD drive when using on-board sound. This specific problem was reported by many other users from a quick Google search. Updating to the latest nvidia nforce2 chipset drivers did not fix the problem...
